Hollywood Brown Derby and Christmas on the Tower of Terror
In this episode, we have some great food at the Hollywood Brown Derby and seasonal views on the Hollywood Tower of Terror. Just what the doctor ordered to get us back in the mood to return to the parks.
We are Themeparkfantasy.com, and we are here to help you live your theme park fantasy. We try to help you make the best decisions on your stay at the major theme parks here in central Florida. We do this by reviewing food and drinks, resorts, transportation, and attractions. Also, we will provide you with some tricks that we have learned over the years to help make your experience even better.
Now, on with the show. The Hollywood Brown Derby, located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Florida, is one of our favorite venues at this park. Also, Since Hollywood Studios is our favorite park, we have eaten at this location many times, all with positive reviews. Yes, some experiences have varied, but it is always consistent in food and service.
First, the location, The Hollywood Brown Derby was modeled after the original site that was operational in Hollywood California in the 1940s. The dining room boasts large comfortable booths surrounding the main floor with tables and chairs filling the center. Caricatures fill the walls with a variety of famous silhouettes of famous people. Low light and light music complete the atmosphere, which is relaxing and enjoyable. This atmosphere eludes to a dress code. However, park attire is acceptable as the location is in the middle of Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park.
We strongly recommend that you secure a reservation before heading on over to the location. Hollywood Studios is a busy park and only offers 5 table service restaurants, so certain times may be challenging to secure. The Hollywood Brown Derby accepts the Disney Dining Plan as well as a Pass Holder Discount. In addition to typical Lunch and Diner settings, they offer a Fantasmic Dinner Package, which allows you to receive complimentary passes to get into the ever-popular Fantasmic Show. This package is no extra cost but provides you with Fastpasses to enter the show and sit in reserved seating.
Now we come to the menus and food. They offer popular items such as a Char-Grilled Angus Fillet, Faroe Island Salmon, Bell, and Evans Chicken Breast and Ciopinno. Another of their most popular items is their famous Chop Salad. Even with all of these fantastic choices, they offer new dishes included plant-based options. The ingredients in all of these dishes are of high quality, and the preparation is done with care. In all of our visits, the food has always been fresh and tasty.
One such item is the Cobb Salad. This item goes back to the original restaurant created by the owner as a snack at that time. It has endured throughout time and is on the menu representing quality and resourcefulness. This salad is mixed at your table and is an item that we always order and share between our table. The Cobb Salad is an excellent start to any meal and a perfect appetizer for any entre.
In addition to the interior dining room, they also have a patio. Out at this location, you can grab a drink, sit under an umbrella and relax. Pick your feet up, so to speak. The full bar will provide you with your favorite beverage. You can also get food outside. They have an appetizer menu, and you can even ask for items off the main menu from inside. This location is delightful under the sun and shade from the trees in the courtyard.
Now to our favorite part of the meal, desserts. The one here that always stands out is the grapefruit cake. The cake is another throwback to the original location. While we have seen many versions of this dessert at Disney’s Hollywood Brown Derby over the years, it has always remained a staple. We have seen it as a large slice or as a small cake part of the dessert trio. In any form, it is fantastic and reminds you of forgotten days. In addition to the grapefruit cake, they offer a chocolate mouse cake and a chocolate coconut cake. All of which are worth a try. Just to let you know, our favorite is either the chocolate mousse cake or the grapefruit cake—a perfect ending to an excellent meal.
Now, To accompany your meal, they have Coke products or a full bar with a great wine list. You can purchase wine by the glass or by the bottle. From the bar, they have specialty drinks such as Iced Tea, Margarita’s, and others. Beer is also on the list. Not the mention that they also have coffee and tea products.
Now, in addition to this Disney’s Hollywood Brown Derby review, we have also included an additional video of the Seasons Greetings Tower of Terror Light Show. This show runs nightly and continually, so you will always have an opportunity to watch it. It focuses on a projection show on the Tower of Terror as well as more video on a giant billboard. It is all set to music. This is a fantastic find, and you need to see this show while you are at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the Holidays. It is not a replacement for the Ozborne Lights, but it is certainly worth the time to stop and watch. The Tower Show will put you in the Holiday mood.
A trip to our favorite park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and a trip to our favorite restaurant in that park, The Hollywood Brown Derby is a day we always look forward to. You can’t miss this location as it is off to your right side, heading down the main street towards the Chinese Theater. The Large sign and the big red awning will let you know that you have arrived.
So, pop on in. You won’t regret it. It’s the perfect place to get out of the Florida sun and heat, put your feet up from the rigors of park exploration, and grab the perfect meal in an elegant, calm, relaxing environment.
